Congratulations to Partner Myrlin Earle on the fantastic verdict he helped obtain for his client in Dekalb County. Earle recently co-counseled a case involving a passenger in a pickup tuck who was severely injured in a crash with a tractor trailer. The jury awarded the passenger $6.5M, to be split between both drivers.
Lead plaintiffs attorney Jay Sadd said his client, James Swartz, suffered injuries requiring two hip surgeries, including a replacement, and has a permanent nerve injury impeding his ability to continue as a residential landscaper.
“My client’s a wonderful guy who was severely injured, whose life has been really turned around by this, and nobody took responsibility,” said Sadd, who tried the case with Slappey & Sadd associate Edward Wynn and Hagen, Rosskopf & Earle partner Myrlin Earle.
After a three-day trial before DeKalb State Court Judge Dax Lopez, the jury took about three hours on Feb. 16 to award a flat $6.5 million, with liability evenly allocated.
